Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is the process of modifying a website so it best conveys to the search engines what the website or webpage is about. The more defined a site or page is for a particular search term, the more certain the search engines are of it’s content which is reflected in the search results. The first step in this process it to identify the search terms, or keywords, that potential customers use to find the services that you provide. This process is called keyword research, and is a very important part of getting more traffic and customers to you website that we can help you with.
There are two main factors of SEO, there are the on-site aspects, and the off-site aspects. On-site aspects refers to everything on the site that tells the search engines what the site is about and that it is a good quality site. These are things such as where the keyword appears on the website, where related keywords appear on the site, linking structures, outbound links and more. The algorithms used by the search engines are becoming more and more complex, and while it is important to optimize, using these techniques too much will have the opposite effect.
The second part of SEO is the off-site aspects. This basically comes down to links coming back to your website. Search engine see these back links as votes on the meaning and quality of your site. Just like the on-site aspects of SEO, the off-site SEO also has it own nuances. Not all links are treated the same, it largely depends on the authority of the site linking back to your site. At the same time links from lower authority sites are important to. Ultimately you should have a variety of links, coming from a variety of different types of sites, with a variety of authority (page rank).
